Golf Cart Rules

Georgia state laws that went into effect Jan. 2, 2012, states all golf carts must have the following equipment:

A BRAKING SYSTEM SUFFICIENT FOR THE WEIGHT AND PASSENGER CAPACITY OF THE VEHICLE, INCLUDING A PARKING BRAKE;
A REVERSE WARNING DEVICE FUNCTIONAL AT ALL TIMES WHEN THE DIRECTIONAL CONTROL IS IN REVERSE;
A MAIN POWER SWITCH. WHEN THE SWITCH IS IN THE "OFF" POSITION, OR THE KEY OR OTHER DEVICE THAT ACTIVATES THE SWITCH IS REMOVED, THE MOTIVE POWER CIRCUIT SHALL BE INOPERATIVE. IF THE SWITCH USES A KEY, IT SHALL BE REMOVABLE ONLY IN THE "OFF" POSITION;
HEAD AND TAIL LIGHTS, REFLEX REFLECTORS, SAFETY WARNING LABELS, HORN, AND REAR VIEW MIRROR;
HIP RESTRAINTS (EACH PASSENGER MUST HAVE THEIR OWN SEAT BELT) AND HAND HOLDS.
NO GOLF CARTS ALLOWED ON BICYCLE PATHS.

THE GEORGIA STATE PATROL WILL REQUIRE THAT THE TRANSPORTATION OF ALL CHILDREN BE IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE CHILD SAFETY SEAT AND BOOSTER SEAT LAWS.

THIS LAW DOES NOT AFFECT THE USE OF ALL-TERRAIN VEHICLES ON THE PUBLIC ROADS, WHICH IS STILL STRICTLY PROHIBITED.

Beach Weddings on Jekyll Island
There are no reservations or permits required for beach weddings, but be sure to check the tidal charts so that you'll have plenty of room for your ceremony.

Residency Requirements
Obtain license from your county clerk. Your license is valid statewide. If neither partner is a resident of Georgia, you must apply for a license in the county where you are getting married. There is no waiting period required.

What to do after I receive my Marriage License?

What is required to get married if under 18?
No one under 16 can get married in the State of GA. You both will need to come in with a State and/or a Government issued photo id with date of birth, Current copy of Birth Certificate, and both parents are required to come in with State and/or a Government issued photo id to sign for parental consent for the minor to get married.

What is required to get married if over 18?
You both will need to come in with a State and/or a Government issued photo id with date of birth, Final Divorce Decree and/or Death Certificate if married before, and $70.00.

Do you require a Blood Test to get married in Georgia?
No. This law changed as of July 1, 2003

Pet Rules and Regulations

Pets must be under immediated control of their owners and on a leash no longer than 16' at all times.
No pets allowed on South Beach - between South Dunes Beach Park and 2000 feet northeast of St. Andrews Beach Park.
Pet owners are to remove and dispose of pet fecal material.
Keep all pets off dunes.

General Rules and Regulations

Bikes should be ridden on the bike paths.
Bike helmets are required for riders age 16 & younger.
No golf carts allowed on bicycyle paths.
No vehicles on the beach.
ATVs are not allowed anywhere - Georgia State Law.
No fires on the beach.
No glass containers on the beach.
Stay off Dunes.
Only take home empty shells and dead sand dollars.
Pets must be under immediated control of their owners and on a leash no longer than 16' at all times.
No pets allowed on South Beach - between South Dunes Picnic Area and 2000' Northeast of St. Andres Sound Picnic Area.
Stay away from marked turtle nests.
Fill in sand castles and holes on the beach.
Pet owners are to remove and dispose of pet fecal material.
Feeding of any wild animals is prohibited.
No fishing in fresh water lakes.
Metal or mineral detection devices are prohibited.
No fireworks.
No overnight parking in public areas.
Do not approach sea turtles and stay clear of marked sea turtle nests.
Please protect the sea turtles by not using artificial white lights on the beach at night.
